1969

Humble Beginnings

Higher Information Group began as Harrisburg Copiers, originally specializing in copiers and duplicators.

2001

The Purchase

A change in ownership leads to the acquisition of Harrisburg Copiers and a transition to being a Toshiba Copier Dealer with a total of 13 employees.

2005

Wide Format Printers

HIG begins answering the growing demand for wide-format printing.

2008

Rebranding

Harrisburg Copiers moves from 204 King Ave in Harrisburg PA and is rebranded as Higher Information Group, commencing in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new main office location with a total of 42 employees and expands their services beyond selling copiers offering multiple divisions of products and services to our customers including: Corporate Printing, Document Storage, IT Equipment & Services and Shredding Services (along with the first truck to begin providing mobile shredding services)

2009

Data Center Complete

HIG celebrates 40 years of being in business and finishes their Data Center, which allows the hosting of secure information.

2010

Shredder Upgrade

HIG purchases Baler and “plant” based shredder

2011

Postage Machines

HIG Business Equipment introduces a full line of FP Mailing Solutions and Secap products following the purchase of a Shredtech Mobile Shred truck, making mobile shredding easier and faster. HIG continues to grow with a total of 62 employees.

2012

Adding Services

HIG begins offering marketing, branding, and web development, helping clients boost their brand awareness. With the shift towards digital communication, HIG begins offering ZIX Secure & Archived Email Service. The growing demand for storage and Hard-Drive crushing leads to the opening of the Cameron Street Storage Facility to meet growing business needs and in-house Hard-Drive crushing.

2013

THERMAL BARCODE/LABEL PRINTERS
HIG begins offering a perfect solution for business critical labeling applications in the form of thermal barcode and label printers while also establishing 24/7 helpdesk support IT support. At this time HIG begins selling security cameras for clients to utilize in an effort to increase the safety of their company, assets, and employees.

2014

Super Shredder

HIG upgrades to a Pitless Baler System, followed by the purchase of a second Shredtech mobile shred truck with a hard-drive crusher and upgraded controls for the pitless baler all while the employee base continues to grow, reaching a total of 68 employees.

2015

Growing Family

HIG’s continued success and expansion led to the opening of a new sales office in Lancaster.

2016

We Continue To Grow

The official ribbon cutting ceremony takes place at the new Lancaster sales office, bringing HIG’s employee count to 98. The expansion continues as the Canby Street Storage Facility is open and ready to accommodate growing business needs.

2017

Merger Complete

HIG acquires York Mailing Services and rebrands their Corporate Printing division to Mail & Print Services. The acquisition brings with it all new services including Mail Pre-Sort, Order Fulfillment, Data Processing, and Direct Mail Services.

Today, Higher Information Group continues to grow and expand their services, bring more talented employees on board, and build strong client relationships. HIG continues to move forward, looking to meet every challenge, both internally and externally, head on by providing lasting solutions to all issues related to information management.
